Christie’s “Magnificent Jewelry” Auction

We posted last week about the famous auction house’s first fall sale of the year in New York, and some of the spectacular pieces in the showcase. The auction, estimated to bring in around $35 million, closed at $50 million – a testament to the huge demand for vintage designer jewelry and fancy colored diamonds.

The feature piece of the collection – this 50-carat D-color flawless pear-shaped diamond, set in platinum – shattered estimates when it sold for $9.5 million.
