IJI: Diamonds to be trade indexed
Despite the worldwide economic crisis, diamonds (particularly large-carat and fancy colored diamonds) have steadily increased in value. Investors – not just celebrity jewelry buyers – are taking a more serious look than ever at their longevity and long-term desirability.

Now a US-based company called Gemshares has patented a 10-level grading system that will allow polished diamonds to be traded on the stock market as a commodity. (Read more of this story on the Wall Street Journal.)
