One of the wonders of the jewelry world, this Brazilian gemstone hauls in at 25 pounds, and more than 57,000 carats – that makes it the fifth largest emerald ever found and the largest to be cut with facets. The massive emerald was left intact because it is opaque; the translucent kind is desired for jewelry.
Nicknamed “Teodora” (meaning “gift of God”) it will be auctioned in British Columbia later this month.
